Jesus commends a poor widow who gives two small coins, “all she had to live on.” Then, foretelling the destruction of the temple, He describes wars, persecutions, the fall of Jerusalem, and finally the coming of the Son of Man “in a cloud with power and great glory.” He urges His disciples to watch, to endure, and to “straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near,” staying awake and praying.
