Judges study chapter

Judges 15

c. 1075 BCSamson burns the Philistines’ fields and strikes down a thousand men with the jawbone of a donkey.

Finding his wife given to another, Samson burns the Philistines’ grain, vineyards, and olives with foxes and firebrands, and they retaliate by burning her and her father. Samson strikes them “hip and thigh,” and when Judah hands him over bound, the Spirit frees him and he kills a thousand Philistines with a fresh donkey’s jawbone, then cries to the LORD, who gives him water.
