At a wedding in Cana, Jesus turns water into wine — “the first of his signs” — manifesting His glory so that His disciples believe. Then, going up to Jerusalem for the Passover, He cleanses the temple, driving out those who sell and declaring, “Do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.” When challenged for a sign, He speaks of raising “this temple” in three days, referring to His body, a word His disciples understood only after the resurrection.
