Jesus declares, “I am the true vine,” and His disciples the branches, who must abide in Him to bear fruit, for “apart from me you can do nothing.” He calls them to remain in His love by keeping His commandments and to love one another, for “greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” He warns that the world will hate them as it hated Him, but the Helper will bear witness, and they must witness too.
