Job study chapter

Job 28

patriarchal eraA great poem asks where wisdom is found: “the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom.”

A magnificent, self-contained poem asks where wisdom can be found. Miners dig out silver, gold, and gems from the depths, but wisdom cannot be mined, bought, or found in the land of the living or the deep or death. God alone knows the way to it, “and he said to man, ’Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding’” — the book’s quiet answer to its own great question.
