A historical appendix, closely paralleling the end of 2 Kings, recounts once more the fall of Jerusalem: Zedekiah’s capture and blinding, the burning of the temple and city, the plundering of its treasures, and the deportation of the people. Yet, like 2 Kings, it ends on a note of hope, recording that the exiled King Jehoiachin was released from prison and given a place of honor at the Babylonian table.
