The LORD promises compassion on Jacob and a taunt-song over the fallen king of Babylon: “How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn!” — the proud tyrant who sought to ascend above God brought down to the pit. The chapter also announces the breaking of Assyria in God’s land and judgment on Philistia.
