Hosea 13

c. 725 BCIsrael’s ingratitude and coming judgment, yet God’s promise of power over death.

God recalls how Ephraim once trembled but then sinned through Baal, and warns that despite His care in the wilderness, they grew proud and forgot Him. Though judgment is coming — they have no king who can save them — God utters a note of hope over the grave: “Shall I ransom them from the power of Sheol? Shall I redeem them from Death? O Death, where are your plagues?”
