1. The Supremacy and Finality of Christ

Jesus is God’s final and fullest word, superior to the angels, Moses, and the whole old order. He is the divine Son, Creator and heir of all, enthroned at God’s right hand — the fulfillment of everything the Old Testament foreshadowed.

2. Christ Our Great High Priest

Jesus is a priest forever “after the order of Melchizedek,” greater than the Levitical priests. He always lives to intercede for His people and is able “to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him.”

3. The Once-for-All Sacrifice

Unlike the repeated animal sacrifices that could never take away sins, Christ offered Himself “once for all,” a single, sufficient, and final sacrifice that perfects His people and secures eternal redemption.

4. The New and Better Covenant

Christ mediates a new covenant, better than the old, in which God writes His law on the heart, forgives sins fully, and grants His people direct access to God. The old covenant, now obsolete, pointed forward to this.

5. Faith and Endurance

The letter calls its readers to persevering faith, holding up the great cloud of witnesses who lived by faith and, above all, Jesus, “the founder and perfecter of our faith,” urging them to run their race with endurance and not shrink back.

6. Drawing Near and Warnings Against Falling Away

Because of Christ’s finished work, believers may “draw near” with confidence to God. Yet the letter also gives solemn warnings not to drift, harden the heart, neglect so great a salvation, or fall away from the living God.
