Genesis study chapter

Genesis 50

c. 1700-1600 BCJoseph dies in Egypt, leaving his family with the promise that God will bring them home.

Joseph mourns Jacob, embalms him, takes him to Canaan for burial at Machpelah as requested. Brothers fear Joseph’s revenge, but Joseph declares: “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring about that many people should be kept alive.” Joseph reassures them. He lives 110 years, seeing great-grandchildren. Before death, he prophesies God will bring Israel back to Canaan, making them swear to carry his bones up. Joseph dies, is embalmed, placed in a coffin in Egypt.
