1. Justification by Faith Alone

The central truth of the letter: no one is justified by works of the law, but only through faith in Jesus Christ. To add law-keeping to faith as the ground of acceptance is to nullify grace and empty the cross.

2. The One True Gospel

There is only one gospel, and any “different gospel” is a distortion under God’s curse. Paul defends the purity of the message against every addition or subtraction, for the church’s life depends on it.

3. Christ’s Redemption from the Curse

Christ “became a curse for us,” bearing the law’s condemnation in our place, so that the blessing promised to Abraham might come to all who believe, Jew and Gentile alike.

4. Sons and Heirs, Not Slaves

Through Christ, believers are no longer slaves under the law but adopted sons of God and heirs of the promise, in whom the Spirit cries, “Abba! Father!” — the freedom and dignity of God’s children.

5. Freedom in Christ

“For freedom Christ has set us free.” The gospel frees believers from the yoke of the law and from bondage to sin, not to indulge the flesh but to serve one another in love.

6. Life by the Spirit

Those justified by faith are to “walk by the Spirit,” who wars against the flesh and produces His fruit — love, joy, peace, patience, and the rest. True holiness is the Spirit’s work, not law-keeping.
