Ezra 10

As Ezra weeps and prays before the temple, a great crowd gathers, weeping bitterly, and Shecaniah proposes a covenant to put away the foreign wives, saying, “there is hope for Israel in spite of this.” The assembly agrees, and despite cold and rain, the men of Judah gather, confess their sin, and, over the following months, carefully examine and resolve the marriages. The book ends abruptly with the community renewing its commitment to be the holy people of God.
