Ezekiel sees six executioners summoned, preceded by a man clothed in linen who is told to mark the foreheads of all who “sigh and groan over all the abominations” of the city. The others are commanded to slay the unmarked, beginning at the sanctuary, and Ezekiel falls on his face pleading for the remnant as judgment falls on the guilty.
