Ecclesiastes 9

The Preacher faces death squarely: the same fate comes to the righteous and the wicked, and the dead know nothing and have no more share under the sun. Therefore, while life lasts, one should eat bread with joy, enjoy life with a beloved spouse, and do one’s work with all one’s might, receiving each as God’s gift. He notes that wisdom is better than strength, though the quiet wisdom of a poor man is often despised and forgotten.
