Colossians 3

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is.” Because their life “is hidden with Christ in God,” and Christ “is your life,” they are to “put to death” what is earthly — sexual immorality, covetousness, anger, malice, lying — and to “put on the new self,” clothed with “compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,” bearing with and forgiving one another “as the Lord has forgiven you,” and above all putting on love. Christ’s peace is to rule their hearts, and His word to dwell in them richly, teaching and singing with thankfulness, so that “whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus.” Paul then instructs the household — wives and husbands, children and fathers, servants and masters — to live in mutual love and to serve “as for the Lord.”
