David’s “last words” declare that the one who rules justly over men, in the fear of God, is “like the light of morning,” and rest his hope on the everlasting covenant God has made with him. There follows the honor roll of David’s mighty men — the Three, the Thirty, and their extraordinary deeds — the loyal warriors through whom the LORD gave Israel victory.
