Hezekiah’s son Manasseh reverses every reform, rebuilding the high places, erecting altars to Baal and the host of heaven even in the temple, practicing sorcery, and shedding much innocent blood. His fifty-five-year reign is the most wicked in Judah’s history, and the LORD announces through the prophets that because of these sins He will bring on Jerusalem a disaster like that of Samaria. His son Amon continues in evil until assassinated.
