2 Kings study chapter

2 Kings 1

c. 852 BCElijah condemns King Ahaziah for consulting Baal-zebub, and the king dies as the prophet foretold.

When King Ahaziah of Israel is injured and sends to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, Elijah intercepts the messengers with a word of doom for spurning the God of Israel. Two companies of soldiers sent to seize the prophet are consumed by fire from heaven, but Elijah goes willingly with a third, humbler captain. He delivers the sentence to Ahaziah’s face, and the king dies as the LORD had said.
