As Solomon finishes praying, fire falls from heaven and consumes the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD fills the temple; the people bow and worship. After the great feast of dedication, the LORD appears to Solomon by night with His central promise: if His humbled people pray, seek His face, and turn from sin, He will hear, forgive, and heal their land — but persistent forsaking will bring exile and ruin on the house.
