2 Chronicles study chapter

2 Chronicles 7

c. 959 BCFire falls from heaven, and God appears with the promise, “if my people... humble themselves.”

As Solomon finishes praying, fire falls from heaven and consumes the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD fills the temple; the people bow and worship. After the great feast of dedication, the LORD appears to Solomon by night with His central promise: if His humbled people pray, seek His face, and turn from sin, He will hear, forgive, and heal their land — but persistent forsaking will bring exile and ruin on the house.
