1 Timothy study chapter

1 Timothy 2

c. AD 64Instructions on prayer for all people, and on the conduct of men and women in worship, grounded in the one Mediator.

Paul urges “that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,” including kings, for God “desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” He grounds this in the gospel: “there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all.” He then instructs on conduct in worship — men praying without anger or quarreling, women adorning themselves with good works and modesty, and learning quietly — giving directions about the roles of men and women in the church, rooted in the created order.
