1 Samuel 24

In the Wilderness of En-gedi, Saul enters the very cave where David and his men are hiding. Urged to kill his enemy, David instead only cuts off a corner of Saul’s robe, and even that pricks his conscience, for he will not lift his hand against “the LORD’s anointed.” Calling out from a distance, he shows the evidence of his mercy, and Saul weeps, confessing that David is more righteous than he.
