Hannah sings a great song of praise to the God who reverses fortunes — raising the poor, humbling the proud, and exalting the horn of His anointed. Meanwhile Eli’s sons Hophni and Phinehas treat the LORD’s offerings with contempt and defile the sanctuary, and though Eli mildly rebukes them, he does not restrain them. A man of God announces that both sons will die on one day and that God will raise up a faithful priest.
