In the spring campaign Joab besieges and captures the Ammonite capital of Rabbah, and David takes its crown and much spoil. The chapter also recounts battles with the Philistines in which David’s warriors strike down giants descended from the Rephaim, including a brother of Goliath — the LORD giving victory over every remaining foe.
